  1. The architectural details on the buildings are so wonderful aren't they? I remember we went to visit a restored temple (it had been damaged I think in the revolution) and I couldn't stop looking at them.

    It made me sad that many places we went had such bad pollution that it was marking the walls, and destroying the buildings. Did you see much of that? You were more northern than I was, I think.

  2. pollution, particularly, air and water pollution, was definitely there. in some cities, the air was very hazy and thick, eating through structures and people. water, even in some high end hotels, was yellow to grey. it seemed odd that there was this mix of resignation/oblivion to these facts.
